Purpose: To raise money for the capital development of the Swift Swimming Programmes. Extra blankets for the pools, heater repairs and maintenance, Swim America Station signs for Lyford Cay and Abaco, Swim America Coaches uniforms, money for a further training of swim coaches – ie. attendance at the annual American Swimming Coaches Association World Clinc.

When: See dates and times above for your pool

Who: all swimmers in the Fitness, Competitive, and Master Groups are expected to
participate. Children in the Swim America Program are welcome.

Goal: For each family to raise $100.00

Our goal is $10,000. A complete accounting of the Swim-a-thon will be sent to all those who participated.

How it will work: Swimmers from the Masters, Competitive, and Fitness Groups will see how many laps they can complete in 1 hour. Children from Swim America groups - how many laps they can swim/kick with a board in 15 minutes, a coach will help spot them. Parents can volunteer to be lane recorders and we will key in all results in the computer for future reference. Swimmers can come to the pool anytime between the times shown above and they will be able to start their laps as soon as pool space is available. If a swimmer cannot do their laps on the date listed above, we can arrange for another time, but please make an effort to work within this time frame.

Other activities: St. Andrews: Sheila Chaplin will be running a used book table, with sales going towards the Development Fund – book donations will be accepted at the pool starting next week. Children books are very popular. Bettina Thompson will be having a small Bake Sale – you can contact her with your donation – 324-0387. If anybody from the other pools would like to do similar activities contact your coach to make the arrangements. Bring your own drinks!
